Gathered is information from different resources such as magazines and websites to give the most accurate list of the Top 10 greatest video games of all time.

The lists derived are from magazines and gaming websites from the years 2005 and 2006. Some of the lists are only platform specific, while others are encompassing many different platforms. Lastly the writer will give his list of the top ten greatest video game of all time.

This list comes from years of playing video games sense I was a child during the Atari era. The reason for this top ten is because of the why these video game changed how gaming is done, I will name a couple as examples. Street Fighter II arguably one of the best street fighting games, if not the best of all time. Tetris for its extremely addictive puzzle solving game play. Doom for being the best looking first person shooter of its time. The Sims 2, probably the best simulation based game in video game history. Starcraft the best real time strategy based game of its time. Final Fantasy VII, the Final Fantasy games gave player a feel of what role playing games are all about and Final Fantasy VII started lead the next generation of role playing games. Super Mario Brothers for setting the standard for how action games should be made. The Legend of Zelda setting the standard for how adventure games should be made. Finally The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for proving that a good action adventure game can be created in a 3D world.
