1) Makes it possible for people to find your site quicker, because if a page is not indexed with Google it cannot be searched for.
2) Once a page is indexed or crawled, it can receive a page ranking from Google. If your pages are ranked higher for particular keyword phrases, this will equal people being able to find your site that much quicker.

How to create the sitemap using FTP

The first thing that needs to be done when creating a sitemap is to sign up for an account with Google sitemaps. To do so go to www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps
. Then you will need to input a website address for the webmaster tools. Once done it going to need you to verify your website with Google sitemaps. To do so click on the verify link, where you will have two choices to verify your site 1) creating an html page or 2) using code provided to put into the meta data area. The easier of the two options will be creating an html page. Google sitemaps will give you a specific name to title the web page, so create the web page with that name and then using FTP, load the page to your web site root directory. Once you’ve done this, you will be able to successfully verify your web site.

Now that the site is verified, you need to create the sitemap. An excellent and easy place to go to create your sitemap is www.sitemapdoc.com. Once there you input your web site address and hit enter then the tool will go through and index all of your pages for you, then you need to check off the pages you want to keep. You need to specify the change frequency, the options you have are: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and never. It is very important that you choose the best option the best fits how often you change a given web page. If you choose daily for a page and you don’t change it on a daily basis Google will pick up on that and you will lose your ranking for that page. Also you need to select the priority level of the page it will run on a scale of 0.0 to 1.0, 1.0 being the highest. Now that the options are specified for each page click on Google sitemap this will produce a bunch of XML code to copy and paste into notepad and save the file as sitemap.xml then using FTP upload the file to the root directory of the web site.

Now go back to the Google sitemaps account and click on add sitemap, the type of sitemap you want is a general web sitemap, then input the address for the sitemap and click add and you are done.

Enemy Territory – Quake Wars is facing a lot of intense competition in the realm of online PC multi player shooting games. Of course there is nothing better then when it comes to going head to head with some remotely connected people. You tend to get a sick sense of satisfaction when you can track down a exotically named player whom has been making your game life a living hell and reducing that character to a convulsing scared twit.

Instead of finding yourself lying down or dying a countless number of times like in other multi player shooter games. You can feel more comfortable in knowing that because of the sophisticated A.I. with the bots, dying will not be a common occurrence and you can more fully enjoy the game play as well.

As any true gamer will tell you there is a thin line between enjoyment and frustration.

Creating profiles

So what does it mean to create a profile? A perfect example would be when you sign up for a www.facebook.com or www.myspace.com account, you need to create a profile for yourself. The profile describes anything you want people to know about you or your business: your name, address, phone number, age, sex, interests, hobbies etc. It basically acts like an about us page.

Make sure the social media communities you’re considering meet the following criteria when signing up and creating a profile.

1) Does it allow you to create a static address?
2) Are you able to create your brand within the address of the application?
3) Does it give you followed links?

What is the difference between a followed link verses a non follow link? A followed link will be a regular link that helps to create a back link to your website to build your link popularity. A non follow link is a link that prevents Google from reading it or giving it any credit. To check to see if a social media community uses non follow links go into the code for the link. The code for the link would look something link this:

So, if the social media community uses a non follow link it would be better to skip signing up for that community.

1) Brand your business name

So now you have all of these social media communities you have signed up for, it that it? No! Now you want to add friends to you social media communities.

A perfect example from my experience is a former co-worker named Brandon Buttars. We would exchange links to help each other out, and while doing this, I was receiving a lot of traffic to my blog through Brandon’s blog. It is as simple as creating a network of friends that you can share links with. By doing so you are building your link popularity and getting free traffic at the same time. Another reason for building a network of friends is that you can always bounce ideas off of each other and post those ideas on each other’s blogs.

2) Have them refer their friends

Another co-worker has close network of friends on a number social media communities as a result he is able to get on top with his article within a day or so within that social media community like www.digg.com or del.icio.us.

The designer for Manhunt 2 said the decision is “a setback for video games.”

Back in June, Take Two Interactive held off plans to release the video game — because the Entertainment Software Rating Board or ESRB rejected it in the United States as well as regulators in Europe, however two months later agreed to release the toned-down version.

The video game allows players to take the role of an “escapee from a mental institution who can go on a killing rampage.”

The less-violent version eventually was accepted by the rating board in the U.S. and received a Mature rating, meaning people over the age of 17 are allowed to buy and play the video game. Manhunt 2 will be release on Halloween for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo Wii.

“The changes necessary in order to publish the game in Britain are unacceptable to us and represent a setback for video games,” Rockstar Games explained. “The BBFC allows adults the freedom to decide for themselves when it comes to horror in movies and we think adults should be similarly allowed to decide for themselves when it comes to horror in video games, such as Manhunt 2.”

Europe’s game rating system tends to be very strict when it comes to violence in video games but soft when it comes to sexuality, check on the article “US And Europe Video Game Rating System, Are They So Different?” to get a better understanding of the difference between the U.S. and Europe’s game rating system.

Kaiser Permanente, the non-profit health maintenance organization said “The Incredible Adventures of the Amazing Food Detective was designed to teach 9- and 10-year-olds about healthy eating and exercise.”

The goal is not to keep children in front of the computer for hours, but to get kids moving. The computer video game has a function that locks players out after 20 minutes — and another function that won’t let them play the computer video game until for another 60 minutes.

The computer video game includes printable scavenger hunts to teach children how to understand food labels, experiments are also part of the game that help children learn how to measure sugar in drinks, make healthy recipes, “muscle-building exercises and family activities to promote better eating”.

The computer video game is part of Kaiser Permanente’s mission to fight childhood obesity, where rates have tripled in the past 15 years.

About twenty percent of children in the United States are now obese, raising “concerns about shorter life-expectancy and the sky rocketing cost of caring for adults with diabetes and other obesity-related diseases”.

West Virginia, the state with the biggest childhood obesity problem in United States, helped foster in the use of video games to battle the weight issue when it made Konami Corporation’s “Dance Dance Revolution” the dancing video game placed in public schools to be part of their curriculum.

“Over the past six years, Kaiser has partnered with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control in developing an anti-obesity strategy.”

This is an extremely good idea, create an education computer video game that teaches children how to manage their diet and only runs for 20 minutes so the children actually go out and apply what they have learned from the online game. I suggest parents go and take a look at the game as said before it is free through the non-profit medical organization of Kaiser Permanente.

The latest example of this divsion is seen in two ratings of BioWare’s forthcoming Xbox 360 role-playing Mass Effect. In the US, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board or ESRB gave the game a M for Mature rating for “Blood, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, [and] Violence” this means no one under 17 should buy or rent the game without parent approval.

While the British Board of Film Classification BBFC known in the news for its recently banned Manhunt 2 explained that American reason for the M rating comes from a single sequence depicting a risque encounter.

“[Mass Effect's] single sex scene is brief and un-detailed, although there is breast nudity in one version of the scene,”. “The sex scene is triggered by the player making a series of choices about becoming more than friends with a colleague. If playing as a male character the scene can take place between him and a human woman or a humanoid female alien. If playing as a female character the scene can take place between her and a male human or a female humanoid alien.” (Emphasis added; Quotes coming from the British Board of Film Classification.)

The mention of extraterrestrial bisexuals raises the eyes of an outer space version of the “Hot Coffee” scandal from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas two years ago which by provide a code in the game you unlock a mini sex game. However, any controversy will likely be waved by the fact that the BBFC gave Mass Effect a “12″ rating basically saying it is okay for preteens to be able to play the game unsupervised.

Mass Effect isn’t the first BioWare game to involve bisexual characters. The PC and Xbox title Jade Empire had several non-graphic cross-gender love subplots,”including one storyline which leads to an implied three-way liaison between a male hero and two non-player characters, Silk Fox and Dawn Star”. Depending on the choice of being a male or female character can also “lead to some same-sex crushes in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games”.

The Europe and US rating comparison is interesting because Europe easily bans games such as Manhunt 2 for its violence but will slap a soft rating on games with strong sexual content in them such as Mass Effect. You decide is this just?

Super Mario Brothers

Super Mario Brothers is the perfect example of what not to do when making a movie out of a video game. For example if a character is suppose to be Italian with a mustache don’t hire a Latino actor that is clean shaven like John Leguizamo was. Or a reptile like King Koopa or Toad like don’t make the characters human. This movie plot was so loosely based on the game it was a shame to even call it Super Mario Brothers.

The movie’s biggest problems is it was the first of it kind, meaning the first major motion picture to be based off of a video game.

Doom

Doom is considered to be on of the great 1st person shooter computer video games ever, producing an amazing cult following. However the movie itself was boring and sad to watch.

The plot of the game is simple: “A portal to Hell has opened up on Mars and you, a space marine, have to kill everything that came out of it.” But in the movie you end up killing zombie not demons from hell so it looses what makes Doom, Doom.

The film maker’s forgot what made the game so good and produced another loosely base title of the game itself.

Street Fighter

I personally didn’t think is would be possible to mess up a game in which all you do is fight and fight and fight, but filmmakers managed to it with Street Fighter.

The movie for one thing didn’t have a whole lot of bare-knuckle fighting and replaced it with more of heavy gun play. It had virtually no plot to speak of and the two main actors, Raul Julila a respected theater trained actor and Jean-Claude Van Damme an action star should never been on the same state with each other.

The saddest part of this movie was the fact that it was Raul Julia’s final motion picture. Not a good way to go as an actor.

House of the Dead

German director Uwe Boll has a vast list of terrible produced video game based movies including: “Alone in the Dark,” “BloodRayne” and “House of the Dead” — a film that takes awful to a new level.

This was suppose to be a horror movie but it in reality had very few scary moments. The bad acting makes it more of a comedy then a horror movie. Little has anything to do with the actual game but the title, zombies and some in-game footage.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Resident Evil: Apocalypse to some degree follow the main plot of the Resident Evil series namely: “flesh-eating zombies are in control of the city and you have to make your way out of it alive”. However it misses the reason people love the Resident Evil computer video games, its not scary, fun and the plot is weak and there is virtually no character development. The bad thing here is that Resident Evil Apocalypse is a sequel to an actual descent first movie.

Blizzard created this disease in an effort to increase gameplay in the multiplayer online role-playing game of World of Warcraft, the disease was a new villain called “Hakkar the Soulflayer”.

“Little did the company know that the virtual plague Hakkar would spread to avatars in the online world would help epidemiologists learn a thing or two about human behavior during a pandemic.”

What happened is Hakkar began infecting players with corrupted blood, the virus caused an outbreak that spread thought the World of Warcraft to some 4 million players in 2005 in the month of 2005 according to Tufts and Rutger universities.

There was a report published in the journal The Lancet Infectious diseases released on Monday the 20th of August use World of Warcraft’s outbreak to get an idea of people responses during and epidemic.

The First Patient

The plague that corrupted the blood of avatars in the virtual World of Warcraft started in a new area called Zul’Gurub, a dangerous realm for high-level World of Warcraft players. Hakkar lived there a winged serpent that would cast a spell that would cause negative effects to the avatar over a set amount of time, infecting them with the corrupted blood disease.

It is important to note that the corrupted blood was contagious. Meaning it didn’t just infect those in direct contact with Hakkar but any avatar in close proximity to the infected players as well.

Once infected, the Hakkar’s spell would drain 250 to 300 health point from the player infected every few seconds. Stronger players had the ability to counter act the affect for the disease due to a higher stamina. Player could also use healing spells and use other high-level powers to survive the disease until it runs its course. However lower-level player were killed within a few seconds.

The engineers at Blizzard didn’t take into account the variety of human behavior regard the virus. the developers built a virtual quarantine area designed to contain the virus. However some players worked around the problem, healing themselves just long enough to leave the quarantined zone. Some used the virus as a weapon to infect entire cites.

“People who were infected would escape quarantine and spread the disease,” he told TechNewsWorld. ” Player learned how to use it as a weapon, infecting pets and sending them out into densely populated areas which would destroy lower level player almost instantly.

“Eventually, players learned to avoid cities — which became uninhabitable — and large groups,” he continued. “The only sure way I know of to avoid infection was not to log in, but so many of the players are nearly addicted to the game that wasn’t really an option, and it seemed to make the game a bit more interesting.”

The Blizzard programmer realized the quarantine zone had failed so they ended the “outbreak by resetting the game a few day later and removing the properties that allowed the Corrupted Blood spell to spread from one character to another.”

Real-World Behavior in a Virtual World Environment

“Since the influence of individual behavioral choice has been shown to greatly affect the range of societal outcomes in many fields including epidemiology, differences between the human-agent simulation and a pure computer simulation of the same disease, incorporating the vast complexity of human behavior — rational or otherwise — could examine the effects of these behaviors on the course of an outbreak,” University Researcher’s asserted.

Interesting, But …

“The finding I found most interesting was that many people would try to either ignore, avoid or somehow get around orders of quarantine. I find that very telling because my gut sense says that is correct,” Dr. Bill Scaffner, chair of the department of preventive medicine, Vanderbilt University Medical School, told TechNewsWorld. He had never imagined an online game would be grist for an epidemiologist and might actually be useful in helping researchers think about pandemic planning.

“Although our Canadian cousins were very compliant, as I understand it, during the quarantine orders when they were infected with SARS, I think the United States population should not be confused with our more orderly and sober northern cousins. We are a much more turbulent group,” he said, referring to the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome in November 2002 and July 2003 that spread from China to other Asian countries, then to the Middle East and eventually Europe and Canada.

Schaffner cautioned that using online games as a model to study behavior to during epidemics only return a small amount of data. The demographic in the case of World of Warcraft is made up of primarily young males with the money to afford computers and a Internet service so their behavior is not necessarily indicative of an entire population.

“This was a bit of a lark. All models and tabletop exercises and games of bioterrorism and pandemic planning are useful up to a point,” he opined. “But it is not the general population that uses these games. It’s a subset of the population that tends to be young and tends to be male. And in so far as you don’t over-interpret the results, I think that’s fine. It may indeed provide some additional information as we all go forward and try to protect ourselves as a complete society.”

“It is difficult to use this the way you would a carefully stratified sample of the national population, a Gallup Poll, for example. It’s nonetheless intriguing. It’s kicky. Who would have thought? It’s kind of fun. I’m just saying let’s not over-interpret the data. On the other hand, sure, let’s have a look-see what happens and it may give us a moment’s pause and moment’s thought to consider some things we hadn’t considered as seriously as we might have.” Schaffner concluded.

The Geforce 8000 series has a new chip, 90 nanometre, with over 680 million transistors, it is considered to be the largest graphics chip ever built. The fastest 8000 version is clocked at 575 MHz while the GTX version clocks at 500 MHz.

The Geforce 8000 series unified parallel Shader is designed to support 128 individual stream processors running at 1.35GHz in terms of speed. The speed numbers came from Nvidia. Because it support direct x 10 it will only work with Window Vista operating systems.

This card is hot, literally it has two power 6 pin connectors means that the card gets 2×75 watts from the cables plus an additional 75 watts from the PCIe bus. This brings total power consumption to an amazing 225 Watts.

The Nvidia graphic card Geforce 8800 GTX “has a dual slot cooler – massive and heavy but it does the job. The card always worked around 55Celsius in 2D mode and a bit higher in 3D.”

The test of two cards

The first card tested was the EVGA Geforce 8800 GTX with a brand-new ACS3 Cooler.
“The ACS3 cooler is actually more efficient that Nvidia’s reference cooler as the card works at 55C in 2D mode while the Nvidia reference cooler cools the card to 60 Celsius only. This is what makes the difference between EVGA card and the rest of the cards based on the reference cooler design.” The box the card come in is super small.

Second card was a Leadtek Geforce 8800 GTX card with the SLI or Scalable Link Interface for linking two graphic cards together. The Leadtek card supports HDCP or High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection and the driver CD also includes Vista drivers.

The driver for both card has a couple of new features, One new featured includes support for 16X Anisotropic filtering. The big news is that Nvidia finally supports FSAA 8X and 16X. Nvidia’s Luminex is a marketing name for incredible image quality that includes support for 16X Anti-alasing, 128-bit HDR (High Density Resolution) and support for 2560×1600 resolution with a high frame rate.

The two nvidia graphic cards where test on the 3Dmark03 a “single EVGA G80 card, EVGA eGeforce 8800GTX ACS3 575/1800MHz scores 30485. it is just slightly faster than the 7950 GX2 card, 2500 slower than Crossfire and more than 10000 faster than a single fastest X1950XTX card.”

When the EVGA-Leadtek 8800GTX SLI 2x 575/1800MHz combo scores 49390, almost 50K a perfect score for the 3Dmark03. With the SLI it is sixty two percent faster than a single card. A single Geforce 8000 graphic card is fifty four percent faster than an X1950XTX. With the Vertex Shader test the Geforce 8000 graphic card is twice as fast as the ATI’s faster card.

“Doom 3 scores around 135 FPS at first three resolutions and drop to 125 at the 20×15, SLI even then scores 135 so this is clearly CPU limited. EVGA eGeforce 8800GTX ACS3 575 / 1800 MHz is almost 80 percent faster at 2048×1536. Doom 3 with effects on scores 130 FPS at first two resolutions and later starts to drop but is still faster than 7950 GX2 cards all the time. SLI doesn’t drop at all at first three resolutions only slightly drops at 20×15.

FEAR scores are up to sky with the weakest score of 95 FPS at 20×15, faster than Crossfire in the last two resolutions and from GX2 and X1950XTX at all times. It is up to 66 percent faster than X1950XTX and 68 percent from the Gainward 7950 GX2 card. SLI is again 68 percent faster than Crossfire a massive difference.

Quake 4 runs up to forty seven frames faster on G80 and SLI gets the score better but not much. G80 is always faster than GX2 and Crossfire. Quake 4 with FSAA and Aniso runs some forty percent faster than ATI’s fastest card and 30 per cent in Crossfire versus SLI G80.

Far Cry with effects on performance is matched with both G80 and X1950XTX while the SLI can outperform both in 20×15.

Serious Sam 2 is faster on ATI in first two resolutins by three frames while EVGA eGeforce 8800GTX ACS3 575 / 1800 MHz wins by eight, or fifteen frames at higher resolutions. SLI is 23 per cent faster than a single G80 and 43 percent faster than X1950xTX.

The Nvidia Geforce 8000 series graphic cards are amazing beating out the latest ATI card in virtually every test. The card is pricey, expect to pay around $600 or more for one of them. Stating from the beginning if you want the fastest graphic card on the planet then buy the Nvidia graphic card Geforce 8800 series, if you want the fastest gaming system on the plant then buy the two Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX graphic cards and put them together using the SLI.
